9. From Today On, My Mother:

Sung by members of the Ester Cadoch Israel's Family. Tetuán, 1956.

The bride bids goodbye to her girlhood by returning the keys of the bread and wine storeroom to her mother. Now she must assume the duties of a married woman, her husband's housekeeper and lover.

From today on, mother,
You of the graceful body,
You will take over the keys
Of the bread and wine.

I want to leave
To serve my good husband,
To set the table
And lie with him.

From today on, my mother,
You of the fair body,
You will take over the keys
Of the bread and white wine.

I want to leave
To serve my good husband,
To set the table
And lie with him.

9.Desde hoy más, mi madre:

Sung by members of the Ester Cadoch Israel's Family. Tetuán, 1956.

Desde hoy más, mi madre,
la del cuerpo garrido,
tomaréis vos las llaves,
las del pan y del vino.

Que yo irme quería,
a servir buen marido,
a ponerle la mesa,
y a echarle conmigo.

Desde hoy más, mi madre,
la del cuerpo muy claro,
tomaréis vos las llaves,
las del pan y del claro.

Que yo irme quería,
a servir buen marido,
a ponerle la mesa,
y a echarle conmigo.
